Summer 2026 Highlights: Creativity, Learning, and Connection

A Summer of Creativity and Community at Pacifica Foundation Seattle

This summer, Pacifica Foundation Seattle was grateful to bring our community together through creativity, learning, and meaningful connection. From July through September, our Sewing Course and Summer Hobby Days gave women a welcoming space to try new skills, explore traditional and modern art forms, and enjoy time together in a warm and supportive environment.

Each gathering offered more than just a workshop. It was a chance to slow down, create something by hand, share conversations, and build friendships within our community. We were so happy to see so many women join us throughout the summer and make each event special in its own way.

Sewing Course & Summer Hobby Days

We began the season by launching our Sewing Course alongside our Summer Hobby Days. The sewing course, led by Aynabat Amanmedowa, gave participants the opportunity to learn and strengthen practical sewing skills in a friendly setting. At the same time, our weekly hobby workshops invited ladies to explore a different creative activity each week.

These gatherings reflected exactly what we hoped for: a summer filled with learning, creativity, and community.

A Beautiful Journey Through Traditional Arts

One of the most meaningful parts of our summer was spending three inspiring weeks exploring the traditional Turkish arts of Tezhip and Ebru. Together, participants discovered the beauty of illumination and marbling, then brought those two traditions together in unique artworks of their own.

This experience was about more than creating art. It was a chance to learn together, appreciate cultural traditions, and enjoy the process side by side. Each piece reflected a different story, and each week added new color to our days.

Cross-Stitch Workshop

Our Cross-Stitch Workshop was another joyful Hobby Day experience. For some, it was their very first time trying cross-stitch, and for others, it was a chance to revisit a classic craft in a community setting.

The room was filled with creativity, laughter, and the excitement of learning something new. Even the simplest first stitches became meaningful when shared together.

Air-Dry Clay Workshop

Our Air-Dry Clay Workshop brought out so much imagination. Participants shaped and designed their own clay projects, each one reflecting a different style and idea.

What made the day so memorable was seeing how everyone approached the same material in such different ways. The workshop reminded us that creativity grows beautifully when people come together, encourage one another, and enjoy the process.

Candle Decoration Workshop

Our Candle Decoration Workshop was full of simple joy. Participants turned ordinary candles into beautiful handmade pieces, adding their own creative touches and personal style.

It was one of those evenings that perfectly captured the spirit of our summer gatherings: relaxed, creative, and full of warm conversation. We were so thankful for everyone who joined us and shared in the experience.

Our Final Hobby Workshop: Decoupage

We closed out our Hobby Days with a lovely Decoupage Workshop, which was a beautiful way to end the season. Participants explored how a single technique could be used in so many different ways, decorating a variety of surfaces and creating pieces that were both elegant and personal.

It was especially meaningful to see how one activity could produce so many unique results. Every creation reflected the personality and creativity of the woman who made it.

Looking Back with Gratitude

As we look back on this summer, we feel grateful for every woman who joined us, learned with us, created with us, and helped make these gatherings so meaningful.

These workshops were not only about hobbies. They were about community, friendship, shared memories, and the joy of learning together. We are thankful for the chance to create spaces where women can connect, grow, and feel inspired.
