Board of Directors

Pacifica Foundation's Board of Directors are the heart of our governing body. Our board of directors has three primary legal duties known as the “duty of care,” “duty of loyalty,” and “duty of obedience.”
  • Duty of Care: Take care of the nonprofit by ensuring prudent use of all assets, including facility, people, and good will;
  • Duty of Loyalty: Ensure that the nonprofit's activities and transactions are, first and foremost, advancing its mission; Recognize and disclose conflicts of interest; Make decisions that are in the best interest of the nonprofit corporation; not in the best interest of the individual board member (or any other individual or for-profit entity).
  • Duty of Obedience: Ensure that the nonprofit obeys applicable laws and regulations; follows its own bylaws; and that the nonprofit adheres to its stated corporate purposes/mission.

    President

    Merdan Kerimov was born in Turkmenistan in 1980. He graduated from Kerki Turkmen-Turkish High School. He majored in Business in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. He is a businessman. He worked in different industries, including catering and home furnishing.

    Vice President

    Ozlem Yalcin was born in Istanbul/Turkey, in 1979. She graduated from Hacettepe University with Physics major. She worked as a teacher and Hizmet volunteer for 12 years. She is married with two kids. Currently, she is doing her masters in Couples and Family Therapy.

    Secretary

    Mustafa Sir came to the United States in 1998 for his undergraduate studies. He earned his Bachelor’s, Master, and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Michigan. He was a faculty at the University of Missouri and Mayo Clinic. He is currently working as senior researcher at a technology firm based in Seattle, Washington.

    Treasurer

    Ramazan Burak was born in Burdur/Turkey, 1974. He graduated from Gaziantep University, Food Engineering department. He served as a General Manager at Light International School in Liberia for 12 years. He moved to the United States in 2017. He runs a restaurant presently.He is married with 4 children.

    Erdem Eskigun is an Industrial Engineer. He has been in the United States since 1996. He is working as a manager in a private company. He is married with two kids.

    Hilal Altug Tokmak was born in Istanbul/Turkey, 1996. She went to Senegal after finishing high school for her English Teacher degree. She came to the United States in 2017 for marriage. She has been an active volunteer for the Hizmet community for more than five years.
